Tanya Berg is a Toronto-based ballet teacher, dance educator, and researcher. Her varied research centers on fostering healthy communication between students and teacher, and facilitating holistic education both in the dance studio and the classroom. Tanya holds a PhD in Dance Studies from York University and is a graduate of Canada’s National Ballet School Teacher Training Program. Tanya currently teaches in the Faculty of Education and the Dance Department at York University, as well as the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Toronto. Tanya has presented her research at many international conferences and her publications can be found in journals including Research in Dance Education and Journal of Dance Education, University of Toronto Quarterly, Theatre Research in Canada/Recherches théâtrales au Canada, as well as in the anthology Ethical Dilemmas in Dance Education: Case Studies on Humanizing Dance Pedagogy.
