Biography

Over my career I have had many experiences as an educator: classroom teacher, junior demonstration classroom in Language and Mathematics, to most recently, prior to my secondment at York University, a Professional Learning Network (PLN) Lead Teacher in Health and Physical Education (HPE) for TCDSB’s North Region. I played a key role in liaising with and guiding a network of stakeholders that facilitated opportunities to help build HPE capacity and expertise with teachers. As a member of OPHEA’s Curriculum Advisory Committee and the Faculty of Education representative on the OASPHE Executive Board, I am continually exposed to the cutting edge of HPE curriculum. As a member of the Ministry’s HPE Technical Analysis and Curriculum Revision writing teams, I have first-hand experience in inclusive design of curriculum for diverse populations. Education has been my passion for years and I have a continual enthusiasm for seeking new pedagogical experiences. These have in turn infused my reflection and practice, as I strive to apply research into my teaching practices to positively impact student learning and to continue my growth as a teacher.
