Biography

Thelma Sambrook is a Practicum Facilitator and Course Director with Bachelor Education program for 2023-2024.

Thelma was an elementary school teacher and principal of kindergarten to grade 8 schools within the Toronto District School Board from 1991-2021.

Since 2015, Thelma has served on the Principal Advisory Board at Harvard Graduate School of Education. She has facilitated the Principals' Qualification Program with OISE CPL from 2015-2022 and currently supports teachers with their practicum completion.

Thelma has volunteered for education associations and served on their board of directors: Learning Forward Ontario; Stop Gap Foundation; and Kids Lit Quiz Canada.

She has presented at conferences, forums and to international delegations: Learning Forward; Ontario Principals' Council; OISE Continuing and Professional Learning Programs; Canada's Outstanding Principals' Academy, and TDSB Parent Engagement Conference.  Themes she has presented on include: Leadership; School Improvement Planning; Adolescent Well-being; Supporting Newcomers; and Special Education.

Thelma has collaborated on two charitable children's books published by TDSB: All About Me Hercules, and The Ramp Man. Story themes in the picture books centered on disabilities, accessibility and inclusion.

Thelma has travelled internationally with education associations.  She has visited public, charter, independent and private schools, in Australia, China, New Zealand and across the United States.
