Are you an elementary teacher, supply teacher, pre-service or recently graduated teacher candidate who wants to know more about teaching the arts? Are you interested in discovering ways to integrate the arts into the curriculum? Do you want to add more exciting practical strategies to your teaching repertoire? Do you want to further understand how to differentiate instruction using various arts forms and methodologies? Do you worry that you do not know enough about the arts to teach them adequately? If you said "yes" to any of these questions, THE ARTS PART is for YOU! More
THE ARTS PART is a non-AQ Certificate series of workshops sponsored by Destination Arts at York University, Faculty of Education. Participants will learn simple but profound ways of teaching music, dance, visual arts and drama to elementary students from JK to Grade 8. The workshops are led by top arts educators who passionately believe that the arts make a difference in the lives of students, that they impact student achievement and feelings of self-worth, and that they can be woven into the more traditional aspects of the curriculum in inspiring and creative ways.
Participants will be involved in all art forms over the course of four (or five) days. The workshops will be hands-on, experiential and very practical. A valuable Arts Part Resource Guide featuring the strategies and techniques explored in the workshops will be provided as well as a "Certificate of Participation"-- an important treasure that can be part of any teaching portfolio. All workshops will take place at the Faculty of Education at York University.
Come be part of the team. Come be part of the arts. Come and learn how to do THE ARTS PART in your classroom!
