This two-phase event and outreach activity will bridge the gap between stakeholders in Education and Urban Aboriginal Communities and includes collaboration with the Toronto District School Board’s Aboriginal Education Centre. The first phase is a digital storytelling workshop for Aboriginal students, parents, and teachers to explore and represent their experiences of schooling; the second phase is an art exhibition and speaker series during which the digital stories will be screened. Drawing on knowledge and insights gained from the Talking Stick Project: Aboriginal Education in the Toronto District School Board Investigating Stories of Teaching and Learning, the goal of this project is to invite Aboriginal artists, scholars, film makers, teachers, students, and parents to creatively share their experiences and perspectives with stakeholders in education, and the broader community thereby breathing life into the research, and creating possibilities for the voices of participants to reach broader audiences. The art exhibition and speaker series will take place throughout June and July of this year.
