This site is designed to provide information and resources for our faculty partners. A fundamental focus at York is to promote the ongoing growth of our teacher candidates through reflection and experience. Mentoring provides us with the framework to support the development of independent practitioners.
Building relationships is a cornerstone of mentoring. By addressing how we welcome and support our teacher candidates we lay the groundwork for success. The role of the mentor teacher is complex and sophisticated. The resources and strategies available at this site are designed to enhance your work as a mentor.
A central core of mentoring involves providing teacher candidates with feeback about their growth. Focused observation empowers the teacher candidate to take ownership of their own learning. Growth for our candidates can be uneven and in some cases, candidates may need more support.
The vision of this site is to provide materials and ideas to enhance our work with our students on our mentoring roles.
