Dean's Message to Alumni & Friends

Dean Alice PittEvery day I hear about wonderfully innovative projects and exemplary teachers, administrators, and volunteers who shatter any pre-conceived notions about what is possible when educators really put their minds and hearts into introducing our complex world, with all its wonders and warts, to the next generation. It is always especially thrilling when I hear, “and she/he is a York graduate.” It is thrilling, but it happens so often that I am no longer surprised. Graduates from our B.Ed, Deaf and Hard of Hearing, graduate and continuing education programs make us very proud. You also keep us on our toes, helping us to understand our changing schools and neighbourhoods.

Alumni (and their friends) are visible in the life of our Faculty. You support teacher education by interviewing applicants and inviting teacher candidates into your classrooms. You teach our additional qualification courses, join us as full-time seconded faculty members, enter our graduate programs, and sometimes write us notes about where you are and what you are up to. We do like hearing from you, and I hope we will soon be able to provide more opportunities to get your advice and find more about how we can support and celebrate your ongoing professional commitments and enthusiasms.
