The purpose of this course is to give teacher candidates an opportunity to experience best practices in teaching deaf and hard of hearing students. Practicum placements will be in provincial schools, congregated and partially integrated classes in school boards and itinerant programs offering resource, withdrawal or other support services. The practicum associated with areas of specialization affords candidates opportunities for more focused teaching experiences. Candidates will also make site visits to agencies, organizations, cultural centers and cultural events for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. These activities will help candidates develop and understanding of the range of services available to deaf and hard of hearing students.
