This course builds on a well established base of knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL).The purpose of this course is to focus on the linguistics of American Sign Language (ASL) and on using American Sign Language (ASL) as a language of instruction in an educational setting.
This course will apply principles of American Sign Language to an educational context. Therefore, candidates will learn how to assess sign language skills of Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing students, how to tell a story in ASL, and how to deal with subject specific vocabulary and content using ASL.
