Financial Support

For students in financial need, the following guiding questions can help you access the necessary supports.

  1. Have you filled out the Student Financial Profile (SFP)?
    In order to be considered for awards and bursaries you must complete a SFP. The deadline for submission is usually in early March each year. Students apply for the SFP once for the Fall/Winter and once for the Summer (if they are taking Summer courses).
  2. Have you applied for OSAP?
    Students can apply for OSAP up until the end of January each year for the current session. It is advised that you do so in order to access all sources of funding available to you. Students can also apply for Summer OSAP (applications are ready in mid-Feb).
  3. Have you had a drastic change in your financial situation?
    If you have submitted a SFP, and something drastic has changed in regards to your finances during the year (i.e. death in the family, illness, loss of job), email bursary@yorku.ca. This department considers appeals for assistance once per week.
  4. Is there a delay in the processing of your loan?
    If you are receiving OSAP and there is a delay in the processing of your loan, you can call Student Client Services at 416-872-9675 and ask to speak with an OSAP adviser to see if you can get an advance on your OSAP loan.
  5. Are you experiencing a financial emergency?
    In the case of financial emergencies, the Faculty of Education may have some discretionary funds that can be utilized. To find out more information and receive an assessment, please contact Vanessa GrafiĀ vgrafi@edu.yorku.ca.
