How to Apply

High School Applicants to the BEd

In order to apply to the Faculty of Education, high school applicants for Glendon, Science & Engineering and Fine Arts may identify an interest in the Direct Entry option by indicating the Faculty of Education on their OUAC 101 university application form. Students must submit their application for admissions to the OUAC by January 11 to be considered for this program.

Please download the document for Frequently Asked Questions and submit supplementary information by April 27, 2012. The supplementary application can be accessed at www.yorku.ca/MyFile, and you will need your York University student number and date of birth to log in. More information will be emailed to applicants in February/March. Supplementary Fee

Applicants will be considered for the final admission stage only after they have met all the criteria for entry into the Direct Entry BEd, including the processing fee, personal statement, experience profile, two reference letters and form, an online supplementary form as well as a Grade 12 average (based on marks reported in March) above a cut-off to be determined. For applicants who meet all of the above criteria, we will extend offers of admission by mail. Applicants who are not selected for the Direct Entry BEd for the upcoming first-year entry point will be reconsidered for the second-year entry Concurrent BEd for the subsequent year, if applicants complete their first year at York University (Glendon, Faculty of Science, or Faculty of Fine Arts). All admission documents will be retained and second-year applicants will be invited to attend an interview and resubmit an online supplementary form to indicate their certification level preference.

University Applicants to the BEd Concurrent Program

Current university students, who are interested in applying to the Concurrent BEd must be completing 24 credits (equivalent to four full-year courses) by April 2012 or if you are in year 3 or 4 of your undergraduate degree program, you must have a minimum of 36 credits (or equivalent) remaining to complete in your academic degree by September 2012. Please read the Faculty of Education additional application instructions and complete the Faculty of Education online supplemental application by March 21, 2012. External applicants (i.e. students transferring from another post-secondary institution to York) must also submit the OUAC 105 Form Application for Admission to an Ontario University, to the Ontario Universities Application Centre in Guelph. Remember to indicate the Education Concurrent Program on the OUAC 105 form (e.g. YW = Faculty of Fine Arts & Education). Applicants must visit the Ontario Universities Application Centre's Web site for more information on how to submit the OUAC 105 form.

University Applicants to Summer Science

Current university students, who will be receiving 24 credits (equivalent to four full-year courses) by September, are required to complete the online supplementary form, attend an on-campus interview and submit additional information (i.e. experience profile, personal statement, two reference forms and letters). Please download the additional application instructions and complete the online form by January 31, 2012. Coursework for the Bachelor of Education (Summer Science option) will occur in May, June and July of summer 2012.
